A while back in our Professional studies lessons we looked at Trade shows, what goes on and how to apply to sell your work at one. We were then asked to research different trade shows, and I chose to look further at Surtex, a trade show held in New York. A trade show is held in a large exhibition space and is mainly for designers and designer makers to sell their work, usually to companies who want to reproduce the print or design on a larger scale. Surtex is one of the biggest trade shows and is held every year, drawing in established designers and companies looking for the freshest designs to use on their products.

Surtex also hold a competition called Designnext which honours young art and design students and gives them the chance to have their work featured in the trade show for potential buyers to see.
